Meet the Judge Rupert E. Ruppert

The Judge of the Franklin Municipal Court is the Honorable Rupert E. Ruppert. Judge Ruppert was born and raised in Franklin, Ohio, and graduated from Franklin High School in 1961. After graduation, Ruppert entered the Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1968. Following the completion of his under graduate degree, Judge Ruppert entered the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant and served in Viet Nam as a Military Advisor to the South Vietnamese Infantry. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge, as well as various other service medals for his tour of duty in Viet Nam. Following his return from Viet Nam, Judge Ruppert worked full time in the Ohio Governor's Office for Governor John J. Gilligan and at the end of Gilligan's term, worked for Attorney General William J. Brown. While working at both the Governor's Office and the Attorney General's Office, Judge Ruppert attended law school at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree in 1976. Judge Ruppert returned to Franklin, Ohio, shortly after his graduation from law school and began the private practice of law with the law firm of Ruppert, Bronson & Ruppert where he still continues in the practice.

After returning to Franklin, Judge Ruppert became actively involved in Franklin area activities. He served on the Franklin City School Board for sixteen years and as a Franklin Township Trustee for ten years before becoming Judge. Judge Ruppert has also been a member of the Franklin Civil Service Commission, Franklin Merger Commission, Franklin City Pool Board, Joint Emergency Medical Services Board and Franklin City Planning Commission. He has also been past President of the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin Rotary Club and the Warren County Bar Association. In 1993, he was chosen Citizen of the Year by the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce and in 1986, he was named the State Campaign Manager for Senator John Glenn's successful re-election campaign. In 2002, Judge Ruppert was honored by being named to the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame and was appointed as a member of its Executive Committee from 2002 through 2005.

Judge Ruppert and his brother, former Judge James D. Ruppert, serve as Trustees of the Deardoff Memorial Trust and, together with Elizabeth Buchanan, oversee the operation of the Deardoff Senior Citizens Center in Franklin, Ohio.
